 The Finger Lakes Region Winter's snow or summer's sunshine, a visit to this beautiful area of New York state is well worth your time. Spring brings with it the delicate budding of flowering trees and shrubs, and an abundance of birds and wildlife. Snow melts to reveal a carpet of green, and bubbling brooks wind their way through the landscape. The Maple festival draws thousands to the tiny hamlet of Marathon, to sample natures nectar in its various forms. Summer bursts on the scene with warmth and beauty, lush hillsides, wildflowers, and picturesque lakes and valleys. Jazz festivals, summer theatre, antique shows, offer the visitor to finger lakes a relaxing way to spend a sunny, summer afternoon. The more ambitious, head for one of the many parks where hiking trails, swimming and picnicking abound. Fall arrives in a blaze of color; reds, oranges and yellows all blend with the browns of autumn to form a breathtaking landscape for the eye to behold. Apple and Pumpkin Fests announce the soon coming of Winter's snow. Soon winter's white blanket covers this hilly land, and the once green landscape, rests itself for spring. Even then, skiing, snowmobiling and cross country continue to draw visitors to the area. Hot chocolate and Christmas cheer abound throughout the warmly lit homes and folks gather 'round to enjoy the coziness of this special time of the year.
