The rains and rising water over the fall have finally caught up with Lake Huites as the last two groups down reported very slow fishing. Both groups stated the lake was very muddy and the fishing was tough. The few active fish being caught were coming off ledges on soft plastic worms Texas Rigged in fairly deep water. This is a far cry from the high catch rates we saw early in November. We are not recommending going to Huites till the water clears and stablizes which iwll be in about 20 or so days. The spring spawn outlook however is good as the lake is very full right now therby meaning the lake should stay at a fairly constant level during the spawn this year. Keep in mind when planning any trip for the spring at Huites that some of the best trophy fishing times over the last two years have been in February but it can get cold during that time of the year and totally shut the fishing down as it did in threee years ago it's a roll of the dice but if you come up lucky expect a great trip with some big fish in February. For numbers look at the hotter months of April, May and into June. Up at Whitetail Valley the rut ended about two weeks ago and the bucks are now showing up around the winter wheat fields on the ranch. Last week we filmed two outdoors hunting shows on the ranch with guests from Nikon and Cabelas, everybody on the trip scored some good trophies in the 120-140 range.

Happy Holidays
